Join us on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September 2019 and learn more about the people who shaped Leeds Beckett University at our special exhibition, compiled from our extensive archive not usually on display to the public. Listen to expert talks from our current academics, treat yourself to a delicious cake in our pop-up tea room and let the children play our giant games, climbing wall and archery on the acre.

Today Leeds Beckett University has over 24,000 students in Leeds and 176,000 alumni worldwide and is located across two campuses in Headingley and the city centre. The history of Headingley campus can be traced back to the Cistercian monks of Kirkstall Abbey in the mid-12th century, through to the landowners and Leeds banker William Beckett, before it became the City of Leeds Training College in 1913. The founding of Leeds Mechanics Institute in 1824 was once housed in what is now the Leeds City Museum, which marks the origins of the modern-day Leeds Beckett University.
