Talk: Reformation and Resistance in 16th Century Y

Talk: Reformation and Resistance in 16th Century Y

Details

Free talk by Dr Helen Frisby from the University of the West of England (UWE).  The Protestant Reformation is often touted as one of the biggest social, cultural and political changes in English history. But how did the people of sixteenth-century Yorkshire, remote from the government in London, really view the changes? In this talk Dr Helen Frisby suggests that the Reformation in Yorkshire was in fact a protracted, much-contested process –which even now still echoes down the centuries.
