Colette

Colette

Details

Colette (1873 – 1954) was a mime, actress, journalist and novelist, nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948. Wash Westmoreland’s (_Still Alice_) charming biopic charts her early life, moving from the French countryside to the dizzying heights of Paris when she fell in love with a successful writer. Her first novel, _Claudine à l'école_, was a cultural sensation. However, _Claudine à l'école_ was published under Colette’s husband’s name, marking the beginning of a long battle for recognition and independence.
