Free Screening: The Tale

Details

"... AN INNOVATIVE, HONEST AND IMPORTANT FILM..."

_Jennifer has it all, with a loving boyfriend and a great career as a journalist and professor. But when her mother discovers a story - "The Tale" - that Jennifer wrote when she was 13, detailing a special relationship Jennifer had with two adult coaches, Jennifer returns to the Carolina horse farm where the events transpired to try to reconcile her version of events with the truth._

This FREE screening of The Tale (written and directed by Jennifer Fox) has been organised by Support After Rape & Sexual Violence Leeds (SARSVL), and will follow an introduction about our work by Katie Russell, SARSVL Trustee and Rape Crisis England & Wales Spokeswoman. Almost half the women who access SARSVL's free, specialist services in Leeds are adult survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse.

Please join us at the Hyde Park Picture House on Saturday 16th March 2019, there will be information available about our services for women and girls in Leeds and donations are welcome.

This review from Jordan Hoffman in The Guardian says: "I WANT MORE PEOPLE TO SEE THE TALE BECAUSE IT’S SUCH AN INNOVATIVE, HONEST AND IMPORTANT FILM. IT IS A LANDMARK, AND LAURA DERN IS ABSOLUTELY EXTRAORDINARY. BUT I KNOW FOR CERTAIN I’LL NEVER WATCH IT AGAIN." _The Tale review – stunning sexual abuse drama is the mother of all #MeToo movies *****_

You can pre-book your free tickets here or you can just turn up on the day.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Hyde Park Picture House [https://www.hydeparkpicturehouse.co.uk/] for their support in providing such a wonderful venue for this screening.
