Arabic-speaking Christians have attempted translating their scriptures since the ninth century. Various translations served different functions among Christian denominations.

In this talk, Dr Sameh Hanna (University of Leeds) will highlight key moments in the history of the Bible in Arabic, reflecting on their socio-cultural implications.

    Follow signs for Leeds city centre. On approaching the city, follow signs for the City Loop. The loop road take you past the Library on the right (just after the Town Hall), with the closest car park being The Light.

    By Public Transport:

    From Leeds train station, walk up Park Row to The Headrow. Cross the road and turn left. The Library is next to the Art Gallery on your right, with and outdoor chessboard, outside the entance. There are two entrances - one for disabled access and one via steps.
