A staple of Leeds’ cultural calendar for the past five years, Leeds Flamenco Festival returns in 2018 with another rich, exciting and world-class programme.

The Juan Martín Trio
This year’s festival opens on Friday 25th May with a special headline performance from the internationally acclaimed and legendary Flamenco guitarist Juan Martin, also featuring two of today’s finest exponents of the Flamenco tradition in dancer Raquel Gonzalez and singer Antonio Aparecida.

Flamenco Workshop
Juan Martin, along with Raquel Gonzalez and Antonio Aparecida will also be leading a workshop from 10:15am to 11:45am on Saturday Morning. The workshop will take the form of a keynote speech from Juan, supported by live demonstrations from himself, Raquel and Antonio. It will endeavour to explain and explore the three elements of Flamenco, and how they are utilised in live performance. This is a non-participation based event.

Community Performances
Leeds Flamenco Festival aims to curate a programme that embodies the best of the Flamenco tradition both internationally and at a regional level; and the festivals’ Saturday programme is testament to this. Day two will feature Flamenco dance and guitar performances from local students at Instituo Cervantes Leeds (Spain’s international ambassador for Spanish language and culture). There will also be performances from Yorkshire based community ensembles such as: Horsforth Flamenco Dance, Hebden Bridge Flamenco and the West Yorkshire Classical Guitar Society among many others organised by Flamenco de Leeds.
