Porch Gallery Exhibition Opening: Here Be Whales

Porch Gallery Exhibition Opening: Here Be Whales

Details

Encompassing drawing, sculpture, collage, texture and video pieces, Here Be Whales reflects on and challenges the representations of whales in our art and culture. It aims to uncover how these portrayals articulate the creatures’ damaged past, threatened present and speculative future.

This relaxed opening event offers an opportunity to chat to the curators with a glass of wine.

If you’d like to dive deeper into this topic, the curators will speak at a special TALKING ARTS EVENT [https://leftbankleeds.org.uk/event/talking-arts-here-be-whales/] at Left Bank Leeds on Wednesday 27 March. Following the talk, you can contemplate the themes raised at our Left Bank Cinema showing of THE WHALE RIDER [https://leftbankleeds.org.uk/event/left-bank-cinema-the-whale-rider/].

_All money raised through this event supports the development of Left Bank Leeds Charitable Trust, (charity no. 1146734)._

_Please note, we take photos at our events for marketing purposes. If you would prefer not to appear in our images, it is your responsibility to speak to a member of staff at the event, in order to seek out the photographer and inform them of your wishes._
