Talking Science: Antibiotic Resistance

Talking Science: Antibiotic Resistance

Details

Some of the most fundamental battles for human beings happen on a microscopic scale. For the most part, we win – but we’re perilously close to tipping the balance.

As infections become harder to treat due to growing resistance to antibiotics, we edge closer to a post-antibiotic era, where once-minor ailments become deadly.

PhD researcher Jack Caudwell tells us about the innovative ways scientists are combatting the problem, including his own fascinating research, and explains what we can do to help.

TALKS AT LEFT BANK LEEDS

Our series of monthly talks connects you with Leeds locals who have thought-provoking stories to tell, offering new perspectives or specialist knowledge on a range of fascinating subjects.

We've curated a selection of talks around subjects and stories we think you’ll find insightful, taking in culture, science, art, lifestyles and more. The aim is that you learn something new (and enjoyable) and that these talks keep you thinking long after you’ve left our space.

Everyone is welcome to come along, including young people (if we have an age cap for a particular talk, we’ll let you know). Sometimes dealing with complex subjects, our speakers will keep everything accessible for all.

Our talking events are pretty informal – grab a drink from the bar, take a seat and settle in. Afterwards, there’ll be an opportunity to ask questions. If you don’t fancy talking in front of a crowd, you might be able to catch our speakers for a quick chat near the bar.

_All money raised through this event will support the development of  Left Bank Leeds Charitable Trust, (charity no. 1146734)._

Please note, we take photos at our events for marketing purposes. If you would prefer not to appear in our images, it is your responsibility to speak to a member of staff at the event, in order to seek out the photographer and inform them of your wishes.
