Clay Senses

Clay Senses

Details

Artists Katie and Bobbi invite you to try something different this summer, with the brand new ‘Clay Senses' ceramics taster workshops.

Prepare to get your hands messy over this series of Sundays (11.30am-2.30pm); three workshops designed so that you can attend one, two or the whole lot! Tools and materials will be provided, as well as light refreshments (including tea and coffee!)

Exploring a range of structural and decorative techniques, in small parties of 10 or less, we will work both together and separately to establish and develop our relationship with clay through a series of playful activities. In each workshop we will have a playful activity at the start and finally you’ll be able to make your own ceramic piece (based on the days workshop). You can also pay to have your work professionally glazed and fired! Alternatively you can join the last work shop where we will glaze the works together.

If you have any special requirements that may affect attendance, such as health conditions or nutritional requirements, please contact directly to discuss. We recommend this workshop for adults and children over 12 and we ask that all participants under 18 are accompanied by an adult.

* All pieces made in the workshop can be optionally finished and fired in a clear glaze for an additional fee of £3 per piece. Alternatively you can book onto our glazing workshop on the 14th July.

Each workshop is different and sold separately.

There are three separate workshops that have a focus on a different senses and technique.

 23rd June

Touch - We will start the session with a few activities to warm you up and get you into the grove of making pinch pots before letting you explore the clay for yourself so yourself a little cup or bowl or decorative bauble.

30th June

Sound - In this little musical session we will explore the power of sound and touch together to get you into a place a relaxation and focus; before the end of the session a beautiful coil built vessel made by you will sit proudly at your workstation along with some other little experiments.

7th July

Sight - This is a great opportunity to experiment with different slips, tools and printing techniques so you can create a set of coasters or a decorative plaque. This workshop will have you dreaming up new ideas.  There is the opportunity to have all the works professionally glazed for a small cost per piece. If you want to take your creations to the next level you can book in with me to come to my studio and add a splash of colour before it gets fired in the kiln. This option is much more worth while if you have done all three workshops and you have a collection of works to decorate.

We look forward to seeing you!
