THE CRICKET WORLD CUP CARNIVAL IS COMING TO LEEDS!

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is taking place in England and Wales this summer and Leeds will be welcoming England, India, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka and World Cup Qualifier champions Afghanistan to the city.

 

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 - Are you in?

 

Headingley is once again playing host to some of the world’s best cricketers with four fixtures taking place at the Emerald Headingley stadium:

  • Friday 21 June – England v Sri Lanka
  • Saturday 29 June – Pakistan v Afghanistan
  • Thursday 4 July – Afghanistan v West Indies
  • Saturday 6 July – Sri Lanka v India

Getting here

Headingley can be reached from three different stations - Leeds City Station is the main station with frequent services from all over the UK. Taxis and an event day shuttle will be on offer available to take you to the stadium. Alternatively, connecting trains from Leeds go to Burley Park and Headingley stations and both are within walking distance of the venue.

First Bus Leeds services 19, 19A, and 56 operates services from various stops within the city centre to the stops on Cardigan Road and Kirkstall Lane. Go to wymetro.com for local transport information. 
There is also a dedicated Park and Ride service which will be in operation from Beckett’s Park at a cost of £10 per vehicle.

Trophy tour 14th and 15th April

The ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour started its tour of England and Wales on 19 February, and it will be in Leeds on Sunday April 14 and Monday April 15, visiting Trinity Leeds and Headingley. Further details of how fans can see the trophy will be made available shortly.

 

Cricket World Cup Fanzones

In each host city centre, CWC2019 will create a free festival of world cricket for all to explore.

Games will be screened direct to the Fanzone, and a free programme of activities and performances will bring together local and global celebrations. The Fanzones are for everyone, from seasoned cricket lovers to children meeting the game for the first time.

Fanzone, Millennium Square 21st-23rd June

The fanzone for CWC2019 will run for three days, 21st-23rd June, on Millennium Square and is free for everyone to enjoy, with live screenings of all matches. There will also be a free programme of activities and performances including street cricket, bowling and batting.

On 21st June Leeds hosts England v Sri Lanka. The other two dates, the matches that will be screened will be broadcast from other host cities, and these matches are:
22 June – India v Afghanistan and West Indies v New Zealand
23 June – Pakistan v South Africa

So whether you are a seasoned cricket lover or a family who would like your children to meet the game for the first time, the fanzone will be a fun experience for everyone.
