Free badminton for LGBT+ refugees and those seeking asylum

3rd July 2022 - 18th December 2022

The Bad Mittens are teaming up with the Angels of Freedom and Tinkle Telecom to offer twice monthly free badminton sessions for LGBT+ refugees and those seeking asylum.

We welcome all who have their refugee status, or those who are currently within the process to gain the right to remain - and there is no charge for attending.

The sessions are supported by regular players from The Bad Mittens, so no previous knowledge of the game required. We will provide all equipment, however please attend in comfortable clothing and footwear.

Learn to play badminton, practice conversational English and meet others of shared experience or those from the local LGBT+ communities.

Thanks to an LGBT+ community grant award from Leeds City Council we can confirm funding for these sessions up to & including March 2023. With appreciation for this funding we are also able to offer travel expenses for attendees at £2.50 (waged) or up to £5.50 (unwaged) - redeemable on the day upon presentation of a valid travel ticket for that day.
