‘Through the wailing wind’
Poppy Jennings will be leading this Brontë-inspired writing workshop, helping you to invoke the wild nature of Yorkshire landscapes to form your poems. She’ll be taking influence from some of the Brontës’ poetry, as well as other popular works evoking nature.
The workshop will explore writing techniques and styles focused on sensory images. We'll be exploring a series of poems exploring nature, local environments and the emotional aspects of the stories created. As well as written inspiration, we'll also use visual art and photography to inspire our work. Feel free to bring photographs or videos of your favourite spots in the surrounding Yorkshire landscape, but visual aids will be provided.
Poppy Jennings is a writer and artist from Leeds. She has a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Cardiff University in English Literature and her writing often focuses on nature, mythology and her experiences in society. She has been published with Lucent Dreaming, Riggwelter Press, Nawr Magazine and others, and she is the organiser of Leeds Poetry Festival.
