A Northern Love

15th June 2024

To end our 2023-24 season, we will take you on a choral journey to lands of the midnight sun, with a range of works that encapsulate the concert title, A Northern Love.

We have prepared an uplifting repertoire of a cappella music that will surely make you fall in love with all things North. The programme features pieces by well-known choral composers, from Edward Elgar and Jean Sibelius to Eric Whitacre and Sir James MacMillan. But we also promise to introduce you to some enchanting works by lesser-known composers, including Eleanor Daley, Imogen Holst and Urmas Sisask. We’ll be reprising a piece by Kim Porter, which went down so well at our Spring concert. And we’ll round the evening off with Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s Four Shakespeare Songs and Benjamin Britten’s famous Hymn to St Cecilia.
