Devil May Care: The Musical Comedy

The World Premier of the brand- new comedy musical that has been written, directed and produced right here in Leeds.  Hats Off Productions, brings ‘Devil May Care’ to the stage at Yeadon Town Hall Theatre.  

Hilarious mistakes are made by an affable Devil, who just wants to secure someone’s happy ever after- and secure his own release from Hell (or the office admin block of Hell where he currently resides).  The characters he tries to help are not your traditional fairytale tropes: the princess is forty and fed up with men; the soldier is brave but depressed; the barmaid is mouthy and the shepherd is a little too attached to his sheep.  Not to mention the chorus of five who play minions, sheep, soldiers and puppeteers.   The audience is taken through short interwoven scenes tying all these characters together towards one apocalyptic climax.

It is a true ensemble production made up of some of Yorkshire’s strongest amateur performers (many of whom are fresh from the stage of the Grand and Les Misérables). The cast manages to balance the intricate, brand-new score with impressive vocals and sensitive characterisation.  The audience of the previews described it as what happens if, ‘Sondheim and Monty Python got drunk together.’  

This will be a brilliant night out for theatre lovers!
