From Within: Winter Solstice with Baluji Shrivastav OBE
Deep dive into the mind of Indian/British musician and composer Baluji Shrivastav OBE, and his journey with visual impairment. A concert not about a life without sight, but how the mind can create pictures through the senses.
Baluji is joined by an ensemble of visually impaired artists showcasing south Asian instruments – resonating strings of the sitar, intricate beats and much more. Together, they aim to enlighten the audience in how the imagination of music is formed in their minds.
Illuminated only by candlelight, the Howard Assembly Room will gradually be bathed in colour as Baluji’s inner vision is realised by a visual artist. Experience solace from the madness of the festive period and let yourself be swept away by an ocean of elated music.
Funded by PRSF through SAA-uk’s ‘SPOTLIGHT’ Talent Development Programme, and in partnership with Opera North.
