Leeds Lunchtime Chamber Music: Leeds Conservatoire

Leeds Conservatoire Sam Milton – percussion & Sofia Pan – flute Andrew Dunlop – piano A diverse programme of music for percussion, paired with lyrical flute repertoire including Mark Glentworth – Blues For Gilbert (vibraphone) CBE Bach – Hamburger Flute Sonata in G major H.564 This concert will last approximately 50 minutes. An enthusiastic, hardworking and adaptable percussionist, Sam Milton has experience in a multitude of genres. He grew up playing percussion in his local brass band from a young age, alongside the Rochdale music service. He has since become a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, The Greater Manchester Youth Brass Band and has played with a number of Championship section bands, such as Milnrow Brass Band, Rainford Brass Band, and Skelmanthorpe Brass Band. Outside of brass bands, he has been a member of Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Greater Manchester Jazz Orchestra, and Greater Manchester Wind Orchestra, as well as performing with the North Wales Youth Orchestra, the Keighley Amateur Orchestra, and currently the Leeds Conservatoire Chamber Orchestra. Twenty year old Chinese flautist Sofia Jin Hui Pan was born in Agrigento, Sicily. She began playing the flute at the age of ten and knew straight away that this would be her life’s passion. Over the next ten years of study Sofia attended many masterclasses with flautists including Yu-Wei Hu, Tom Hancox, Laura Jellicoe, and Jean-louis Beaumadier to name a few. In Italy she won competitions including The International Music Competition Gianluca Campochiaro, Amigdala International Competition, and the Nellina Cappellani Costa Competition to name a few.
