Leeds Summer Solstice Festival – Midsummer’s Night Music

For the first time since 1999, we are opening the doors of the Old Union Chapel/Purana Gurudwara to invite you in for a mid-summer music dream.

This beautiful, history laden space will host the 13th Summer Solstice Festival dedicated to classical music traditions synonymous with Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Taking you on a spectacular music experience are talented torchbearers of the classical music tradition from the UK, India, and Australia.

Tickets include 2 course Punjabi Vegetarian/Vegan meal on presentation of purchased ticket. Water, teas and coffees are provided for free. Street food snacks will be on sale through the night. 


Chandra Chakraborty & Company (8:30 to 10:00pm) Presenting Ghazals, Khayal & Thumris, the incredible vocalist and actor has the breath-taking ability to express poetry through song.

Yarlinie & Company (10:30pm to 12:00am) 
Carnatic Vocals and Veena.  

Aman Pal & Company (12:30am to 1:30am)  We are delighted to welcome for the first time to Leeds, student of Ustad Tari Khan – Aman Pal.

Nabeel Khan accompanied by Aman Pal Singh (2:00am to 3:30am) A rising star who is passionate about keeping the art of playing Sarangi alive and thriving by inspiring the next generation.    

Roopa Panesar & Shahbaz Hussain (4:00am to 5:30am) Joining forces to share their extraordinary gift of Raagdaari Music is Sitar extraordinaire, Roopa Panesar, and the wonderful Tabla wizard, Shahbaz Hussain.

Professor Harvinder Singh & Company (6:00am to 7:30am) In an age when maestros of the older generation express fear of the decadence of the grand tradition of Indian Classical music, Prof. Singh’s music stands like the Colossus, as it were an eternal reminder of the strength of this great art.
