Musica do Circulo: Collaborative Singing and Body Music with Pedro Consorte

20th August 2022 - 20th August 2022

Calling out to musicians, singers, artists, teachers, therapists and anyone who wants to experience the magic of collaborative music-making with voice and body.

There are no specific skills required and everyone is welcome.

This event is aimed at anyone with curiosity and openness about circlesinging, body percussion, and spontaneous, improvised music-making.

Come along and dive in!

A one-day workshop exploring Música do Círculo, a unique musical approach which weaves voice, body music, improvisation, play, movement, and human connection into a beautiful collaborative and collective musical experience.

Using a host of different musical games and various ingredients of Brazilian music, you will be invited to connect with yourself and others in an interactive, democratic and inclusive way of making music.

Different levels of previous musical experience will be welcomed, respected and challenged in a safe, non-judgmental and loving environment. You will be able to relax into being led in a joyful, uplifting, collective musical experience, and have the opportunity to step into leading and singing solo in a safe space, but only if you want and choose to, with no expectation. All of the games invite group singing and music-making as their core essence.

This unique musical methodology - Música do Círculo - has been discovered and developed by Pedro Consorte, Zuza Gonçalves and Ronaldo Crispim over the last ten years in the parks of São Paulo and retreat centres of Bahia in Brazil. Inspired by circlesinging and body percussion (using the human body as and instrument), as well as the work of Barbatuques, Stênio Mendes and Bobby McFerrin, Música do Círculo is now internationally recognised and teacher-training opportunities are now available too. For more information, follow the links above and have an explore!

In a nutshell, over the workshop, we will:

Play a variety of musical games with the resources of the voice and body

Be led in a joyful, uplifting, collective musical experience

Integrate ingredients of Brazilian music into our music-making

Grow your confidence in creating in-the-moment music together in a group

Connect with yourself, meet great people, and have FUN!
