Raga @ Seven: Poetry in Song
29th February is synonymous with a twist in roles and gender norms, where women take the active role of proposing and whisk away their partner to marital bliss.
During the leap year, we embark on a journey to celebrate this tradition, starting with an evening of poetry and song. Recited and sung by Priti Kaur, all songs have been written and/or performed by women throughout time.
From old folk songs to Bhajans written by 16th century mystic poet Meerabai, to ghazals by legendary poet Amrita Pritam and Parveen Shakir as well as hidden gems of a current generation of South Asian poets like Shabina Adeeb. This is an evening for one to bask in the talent of feminine artistry.
