Silver Jewellery Making: Four-Week Course
About this event: Learn how to use basic jewellery making tools to apply a range of techniques such as forming and shaping, filing, stamping, texturing, and hand polishing. You will be guided through the making process to create your own personal silver jewellery. By the end of the course, you will have created a silver wrap ring, earrings, and necklace. Tutor: Genevieve Broughton Genevieve Broughton is a jewellery designer and maker with over 20 years of experience. Her work combines precise geometric shapes and stylised natural forms in minimal designs created using traditional silversmithing techniques. Genevieve is based in Wakefield and having originally trained as a fine artist she recently returned to the visual arts becoming a print member at The Art House. This course is suitable for beginners, no experience is needed, it’s a great introduction to basic jewellery making techniques. Do I Need to Bring Anything? All materials and tools are included, please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty or bring your own apron. Please note that hammering the silver can be quite a noisy process, we will provide earplugs you can use or feel free to bring your own ear defenders if you have them.

Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite's booking fee is non-refundable. Bookings cannot be transferred between courses however bookings can be transferred to another person in the event that you are unable to attend on the day. In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example, due to tutor illness or if lockdown measures are put back in place your ticket will be refunded in full.
