The Tower and The Telescope
theOBJECTproject return to Slung Low with their latest slice of clown/puppet dystopia, following in the wake of PIXIEMATOSIS and The Ballad of the Underwater Daughter!
On a craggy cliff-top (insert windy sound effects here) a part-time astronomer scans the universe, desperately seeking answers to the ineffable questions of life. Next door a ramshackle cook is caught up in a life or death struggle with the sandwich filling of the damned. And speeding round the bend is the tawdry-bread delivery driver… who is hopelessly in love with the cook.
It’s a hand-cranked, clanking puppet world where everyone and everything feels irretrievably lost. But it’s all ok because something is watching over them. Something huge and warm and fuzzy almost like happiness… except with massive bone crushing arms.
The Tower and the Telescope takes an absurd, sideways look at life and love through a cracked, greasy lens. The show is stuffed with darkly relatable puppets, wonky machines and hilariously dingy surprises.
It’s suitable for people aged 13+ who like their theatre ‘funny ha ha’ and ‘funny distinctly unpleasant’.
“Such an incredible show! I’m still digesting it.”
