Willie J Healey
“I’ve always liked the way Willie has followed his own path away from the music scenes, oblivious to where the zeitgeist might be”– Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 Music
“I’ve completely fallen in love with his music, it’s very bright, clever, excellent soul-y funk music with a keen sense of humour… my new favourite artist” – Guy Garvey, BBC 6 Music
“WJH is a completely brilliant singer songwriter” – Greg James, BBC Radio 1
“One of my favourite albums of the year’’ – Jack Saunders, BBC Radio 1
“[Bunny] perfectly captures the essence of those mellow summer afternoons.” – Clash ★★★★
“Your favourite songwriter’s favourite young songwriter” – DIY ★★★★
“A record to stick on, and bliss out to. Willie’s never had more style.” – Dork ★★★★
“Excellent and under-rated singer-songwriter” – The Guardian
“a woozy and playful marriage of guitar and funk music.” – The Independent
“He’s hurtling toward Next Big Thing status” – Mojo ★★★★
“New album, Bunny, represents a great leap forward, with elements of 70s funk newly added to his earlier George Harrison stylings.” – The Observer
“The hype is justified on new album Bunny, a record that keeps the essence of his laid-back, slacker songwriting while inviting in new elements of R&B and pop and expanding his world.” – Rolling Stone UK
Following the success of his 2023 album Bunny, and the 2024 radio hit “The Apple”, Willie J Healey returns this November with his biggest UK headline tour to date. The five-date run will see Willie debut new material across iconic venues, including London’s Electric Ballroom.
Tickets will go on general release a week from today on Friday 20th of June at 10:00AM from the link HERE. Fans can access a special pre-sale beginning 10AM on Wednesday, 18th June, by signing up to the mailing list HERE.
Speaking on the upcoming tour, Willie J. Healey said: “I’m really excited to be visiting these cities in November and playing the biggest shows that I’ve played to date. I’ve got lots of new music and my aim is to be playing it for you all then. It’s a very exciting thought in my mind and I will be counting down the days.”
The tour announcement follows a standout 18 months for the Oxfordshire-born songwriter. His acclaimed third album Bunny, a joyful fusion of 70s funk, slacker soul, and Neil Young-inspired introspection, was named Album of the Year by Guy Garvey on BBC 6 Music and featured in end-of-year lists by Rough Trade, Truck, Vinilo, and Resident.
Singles like “Dreams” and “Thank You” received heavy rotation across BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, while Willie hit the road with Florence + The Machine, Jamie T, and Arctic Monkeys, cementing his growing reputation as one of the UK’s most compelling live acts.
Earlier this year, Willie followed Bunny with “The Apple”, a vibrant, groove-laced single that picks up where the album left off. Produced in New York with Loren Humphrey (Florence + The Machine, Arctic Monkeys), the track blends vintage textures with self-aware lyricism and marks the beginning of a bold new chapter.
With supporters in the likes of Alex Turner, Florence Welch, Joe Talbot, and Jamie T, anticipation is high for what Willie J Healey does next. These November shows offer fans the first chance to hear what’s to come.
