Following last year’s success, Leeds Chinese Community School is hosting another unique event, this time celebrating the advent of the Year of the Pig.

On Saturday 26th January, an orchestra (including a Chinese orchestra), choir and dance group formed by more than 70 talented young artists from Guangzhou, China will join local artists to showcase a variety of performances.
The audience will be invited to enjoy the fascinating sounds and shapes of traditional instruments, experience authentic Chinese music, songs, dances and culture, and also enjoy the diversity of Chinese and Western music.

Chinese New Year Gala

The Year of the Pig is coming! Leeds Chinese Students and Scholars Association(CSSA Leeds´╝ëwill host a Chinese New Year Gala on January 31st at Leeds Town Hall. Please join them and enjoy Chinese folk music, dance, comedies and many other fascinating featured performances by students from university of Leeds and professional Chinese artists. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate Chinese New Year! The show will be primarily in Chinese with general English introduction.

A free raffle ticket is given with every gala ticket. During the Gala, there will be multiple lucky drawings taking place in which you could win some pretty Big prizes.

On Friday 1st February, come and join the celebration as Chinese New Year returns to Halifax with a unique and exciting cultural spectacle, featuring a team of performers showcasing amazing Chinese performing arts. From the cheerful spirit of the auspicious Lion Dance, to the awe-inspiring contortion, the show is a colourful display of Chinese cultural tradition.

Witness the daring stunts of Chinese acrobatics alongside energetic kung fu performance, the magnificent 18-metre long Dragon Dance and more. This colourful and action-packed show is the perfect entertainment for all ages to enjoy on this auspicious occasion and great night out for all the family!

The Chinese New Year Party of the year is coming to Leeds. On Tuesday 5th February, dance the night away and celebrate the year of the pig! Expect lasers, confetti, Chinese New Year decorations throughout the club and the hottest K-Pop, EDM, Hip Hop and RnB tunes.

EVEN MORE WAYS TO CELEBRATE...

Visit Lotherton Hall to discover a fabulous range of Chinese ceramics, from the Neolithic earthenwares of the Gansu Yangshao culture over 5000 years ago, to more modern porcelains with their multi-coloured enamel glazes.

At Leeds City Museum the Voices of Asia gallery celebrates the sights, sounds and culture of Asia overseas and here in Leeds. Topics explored include Faith and Festivals, Trade and War, Fashion, Music, Dance and Food.

One of the most famous rooms at Temple Newsam is Lady Hertford's Chinese Drawing Room. The walls are hung with a delightful Chinese hand-painted wallpaper depicting a terraced garden with the sky full of exotic birds. 

On display at Harewood House is one of the finest example of hand painted Chinese wallpaper in the world. This rare work of art was originally designed for the Chintz Bedroom on the first floor.
