Celebration Festivals

Leeds sure knows how to party and what better reason than to celebrate something?

Leeds West Indian Carnival is Europe’s longest running authentic Caribbean carnival parade. 2019 will be the 52nd carnival, expect jaw-dropping costumes, infectious tropical rhythms, mouth-watering food and entertainment for everyone. Held annually on the last Monday in August, this stunning display of colour and sheer joy winds its way through the streets of Leeds, presenting the very best of West-Indian carnival culture.

The ‘must not miss’ event onthe city’s LGBT* calendar is definitely Leeds Pride. Thousands come to the city for a diverse line up of mainstream and LGBT* acts at Millennium Square, a march through the centre of Leeds and the biggest parties until the early hours. A true celebration of Leeds’ diversity and equality, it’s the biggest event of its kind in Yorkshire.
