Leeds Christmas Markets

Leeds is going to be bigger and better this Christmas! We’re so excited that this year Leeds will have a large-scale traditional Christmas Market experience which will make use of different spaces across the city.
For the first time ever, streets and spaces all across the city centre will be hosting plenty of traditional, timber market stalls decked out in festive lighting and will include international, UK, Yorkshire and Leeds traders. These will be located:

• Lands Lane (outside WH Smith)
• Top of Lands Lane (next to the Core shopping centre)
• The Headrow (outside TK Maxx)
• Dortmund Square
• Albion Place
• New Briggate
• Corn Exchange
• Top of Briggate
• Bottom of Briggate (opposite Trinity Leeds)
• Bond Street
• City Square

The new Christmas market will also feature two Christmas-themed outdoor bar areas with the Windmill bar on Briggate and Apres at Sally’s on Quebec Street (close to market stalls on City Square which is outside the train station).
There will be lots of family-friendly events and experiences which will run alongside the market, complementing the city’s long established traditional Christmas offer on Millennium Square and Victoria Gardens including the popular Ice Cube outdoor skating rink, market stalls and other themed attractions. This will also be in addition to the fantastic range of Christmas shows, pantos and outdoor experiences on offer! Leeds is a creative city with a thriving independent scene, and at Christmas there are artisan fairs throughout the festive season with local artists and makers selling their wares. Whenever you visit Leeds this winter – make sure you include one of these markets in your travel itinerary. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a mulled wine, support local makers and pick up truly unique gifts for loved ones (and maybe even something for yourself!)

The full opening hours for the Leeds Christmas Markets are as follows:
10am – 7pm Monday to Wednesday

10am – 9pm Thursday to Saturday

10am – 6pm Sundays 

(some locations opening from 10.30am)

KIRKGATE MARKET CHRISTMAS

The oldest part of Leeds city centre is home to one of Europe’s largest indoor markets; the iconic Grade 1 listed Kirkgate Market dates from 1875 and is the birthplace of Marks and Spencer, with a replica of the original Penny Bazaar. As well as over 150 independent traders to source your fresh festive produce, Kirkgate Market has a packed Christmas programme starting with speciality markets and festive visitors.

BRIGGATE FARMERS MARKET

First and Third Sunday of the month. Briggate.
Leeds Farmer’s Market is a food market featuring the best local produce in Yorkshire. Whether it’s game or farmed foods, its shoppers can be certain of freshness and quality. Its stalls are opened on the first and third Sunday every month.

 

ARTSMIX MARKET

Every Saturday until Christmas on Albion Place 10:00 – 18:30
Situated in the heart of Leeds City Centre, the Albion Place pop-up Artsmix Market is great fun and offers shoppers original creative goods at great prices.

 

LEEDS WINTER MARKET

3rd December. Royal Armouries.
Filling New Dock Hall with over 100 carefully curated independent designer makers – from artists, designers & printmakers, to florists, beauty, wellbeing, jewellery, fashion, artisan food sellers, and many more! Here, unique ideas cross paths with a sustainable ideology, and small-batch and preloved are king (or queen)! It’s the ultimate one-stop winter market!
And how’s about some seasonal feasting? Leeds Winter Market will bring a host of food vendors with plenty of irresistible choices for meat lovers, vegans, vegi’s, flexi’s and not to mention the little people! You can feast on lunch with fresh ingredients or take home some locally produced food hampers or artisan deli products and small batch gins and beers.

 

 

MAHOGANY MARKET CHRISTMAS MARKET

10th December. Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
The last Mahogany Market of 2023, support local and black owned businesses this Christmas. There will also be a Santa Experience at the Leeds Playhouse on the 25th November.
