AJ Bell World Triathlon Series

AJ Bell World Triathlon Series

Leeds is proud to, once again, be hosting the AJ Bell World Triathlon Series. This year, the race will be held 5th – 6th June.

The event represents the pinnacle of triathlon competition in the UK and provides more than 5,000 recreational triathletes with the unique opportunity to compete on much of the same course as the world’s best.

Set within the picturesque setting of Roundhay Park, this year will see thousands of athletes, from amateurs to elites, take to the start line across the event weekend. This year the event will also host both the AJ Bell World Triathlon Para Series, Leeds Presented by Volvo on Saturday 5 June and the AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Championship Series, Leeds on Sunday 6 June.

All spectators must register in order to attend the event with limited capacity at the venue due to Covid-19 restrictions and to help with NHS Track and Trace. They will also be required to complete a health declaration and agree to the code of conduct which will be sent out to them to allow them entry into Roundhay Park.

Tickets for Sunday 6 June have now SOLD OUT.

Spectator tickets for over 16s are £5, with free entry for under 16s.

Road closures and Roundhay Park access information can be found here.

AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Leeds routes announced

For the first time all races at AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds will start and finish in Roundhay Park, with all routes reaching the same finish line outside the park’s Mansion House.

As in all years since the event moved to the city in 2016, participants will swim in Waterloo Lake before making their way to T1 and setting off along the roads and paths in and around the park.

One of Europe’s largest city parks, Roundhay Park and the routes around it provide ample opportunity and challenge to participants of all types as they make their way around the park on their journey towards the Mansion House and achieving their swim, bike, run goal.

Both the bike and run routes will take participants through the park and past landmarks such as the Upper Lake and it’s fountain, the Victorian Shelter and Barrans Fountain before reaching the finish line underneath the grade II listed Mansion House.

It is at this finish line that age group athletes will achieve their times in search of qualification for the Great Britain Age-Group Team, as well as complete their attempt at claiming the crown in the British or Yorkshire Championship in the standard distance, with places available at https://leeds.triathlon.org/2021/standard.

Volunteers at the World Triathlon Series

Tri Makers played a pivotal role at the AJ Bell World Triathlon Leeds 2019 and thanks to their help the event saw over 3000 people have a great experience through swim, bike and run. After the 2020 event was unable to go ahead, the World Triathlon organisers are really excited to be planning our return, but we cannot do it without your help!
They are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to volunteer at the AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Leeds on the 4th – 6th June. There are some exciting changes to the format of the event weekend from previous years, with all of the action now taking place in and around Roundhay Park and a great new addition. We are proud to be hosting both the AJ Bell 2021 World Triathlon Championship Series, Leeds and the AJ Bell World Triathlon Para Series, Leeds Presented by Volvo.
There’s a wide range of roles available, whether that’s welcoming people to the venue or assisting with the start. It could be out on the course or cheering on our finishers. No matter what your role you’ll be playing a key part in the delivery of a world class event. You are able to commit to as many days as you wish and they will always work to accommodate you as best they can. The event will be delivered in line with COVID-19 guidelines at the time.

Please visit https://leeds.triathlon.org/volunteer/ to register as a Tri Maker.
