Bongo’s Bingo hosts 90s v 00s special at The O2 Academy

Bongo’s Bingo are welcoming a unique theme for April in Leeds, blending two iconic decades together like a crazy experiment just to see what happens. Already infused with legendary magic and mayhem, the forthcoming themed shows are a pure distillation of Bongo’s Bingo’s essence, boiled down to its chaotic core. So – what two better decades to face off than the 90s and 00s on Friday 10th April at The O2 Academy? And there’s plenty of other dates there and at Project House this April. All of April’s dates are also now on sale.

Each is a pivotal period, packed with pop-culture chaos, fantastic fashion, technological advances, sporting triumphs, and a liberal sprinkling of political global upheaval for good measure.

The 90s remains one of the truly iconic decades – a halcyon period of relative innocence and the Spice Girls redefining girl power. There were no mobile phones and no social media and TV series dominated: Friends, Twin Peaks, The X Files and The Simpsons formed part of a golden age. Or from Britpop wars and secret raves to Harry Potter. From

the 90s, Bongo’s Bingo is bigging up the Backstreet Boys to Nirvana and TLC to 2Pac, all part of the decade which gave dial-up internet and Tamagotchis. What can beat this?

Or… maybe the Noughties is better. Is it? From The Wire, Six Feet Under and Malcolm In The Middle to Donnie Darko, Kill Bill and Shaun of the Dead, don’t forget this era birthed gadgetry including the iPod and PS2. And who could forget Nokia’s classic burner and Snake and limited minutes? It’s safe to say it was a vintage decade, from Hey Ya! And Crazy in Love to Daft Punk’s absolute classic, One More Time. Who will win?
