Two Must-See Dance Shows in Leeds This Autumn
29th August 2026
DeNada Dance Theatre and Ballet Cymru return to the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre in Leeds with two unmissable dance productions.
DeNada Dance Theatre presents Edward II
Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre
30 & 31 October at 7.30pm
Inspired by Christopher Marlowe’s 1592 Edward II and choreographed by Carlos Pons Guerra, this queer dance adaptation swaps the Medieval court of England for a hormone-fuelled high school fever dream. Set to an original score by Luis Miguel Cobo and with costume designs by April Dalton, this visceral production explores the angst and joys of forbidden passion, celebrating the endurance of queer people across history. Edward II promises to speak to anyone who’s faced the brutal battlefield of adolescence.
This project has been developed whilst working with young people from schools in the North of England, to better understand the hardships of the younger members of the LGBTQ+ community and how their experiences are both similar and different to older generations.
Edward II will be at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October. Visit northernballet.com/edward-ii to book tickets.
