APRIL AT LEEDS HERITAGE THEATRES

Spring has sprung, bringing with it a whole host of shows at Leeds Heritage Theatres. Drop The Dead Donkey: The Reawakening: Tue 9 – Sat 13 April

Starring the original cast members Susannah Doyle, Robert Duncan, Ingrid Lacey, Neil Pearson, Jeff Rawle, Stephen Tompkinson and Victoria Wicks, the iconic BAFTA and Emmy award-winning comedy is reimagined in this brand-new topical commentary on the cutthroat world of 24-hour news.

 

Kay Mellor’s The Syndicate: Thu 18 – Sun 28 April

Based on her hit BBC show, The Syndicate is a new stage play by the legendary Kay Mellor.

Starring director Gaynor FayeEmmerdale’s Samantha Giles and Coronation Street’s Brooke VincentThe Syndicate follows five supermarket employees whose lottery syndicate numbers come in, just as their jobs and livelihoods are under threat.

 

Come From Away: Tue 30 April – Sat 11 May

This smash-hit show shares the incredible real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world who were grounded in Canada during the wake of 9/11, and the small Newfoundland community that invited these ‘come from aways’ into their lives with open hearts.

World-famous hypnotist Andrew Newton returns to The Varieties with his hilarious one-man show.

 

Irish Annie’s 2024 Tour: Wed 17 April

Come on down for a session at Irish Annie’s pub, a brand-new musical celebrating the best of Irish culture – from the music to the comedy. The show features the live five-piece band Shenanigans, plus Ricky Tomlinson, Catherine Rice and Asa Murphy.

 

The Fureys: Thu 18 April

The Fureys make their eagerly awaited return and will treat their audience to one of popular music’s richest legacies. They are one of Ireland’s all-time most acclaimed and influential middle-of-the-road, folk and traditional bands.

 

Alasdair Beckett-King: Nevermore: Fri 19 April

Out of the swirling maelstrom, he steps, his sword of jokes, his shield of whimsy and his armour made of a third amusing thing. Cursed to return on tour. Multi award-winning stand-up Alasdair Beckett-King unravels life’s shallowest mysteries.

 

Bailey J Mills: Unfiltered & Scummy: Mon 22 April

Get ready to be swept off your feet into a whirlwind of laughter with the sensational comedy star, Bailey J Mills, renowned for their appearance in The After Shave alongside Danny Beard on BBC.

 

A Century of Swing: Sat 27 April

Join the UK’s hardest swinging band Down for the Count for ‘one hellova celebration of vintage music’ (Time Out London) as they celebrate A Century of Swing. Down for the Count is a mini-big band that brings the sounds of the Swing Era back to life with an electrifying show.
