Brotherhood: Celebrating 10 years with a major £500k glow-up!

25th January 2024

One of the UK’s most revolutionary sports bars is set to celebrate its 10th year trading with a remarkable makeover and an enticing new menu. The Brotherhood, which quickly established itself as a trailblazer on the UK sports bar scene back in 2014, has invested £500k into reinventing its New Briggate venue.

Taking a more refined, gimmick-free approach to sports bar culture, Brotherhood tapped into an area of the market that had previously been lacking, with the focus on great sports, great drinks, and great people.

Enlisting the help of AXI Interior Design, the two-floor venue has been transformed into a warm and inviting space that channels a vintage gentleman’s club, with plenty of retro sporting nods throughout.

The main hall blends traditional British elements with modern flourishes, stripping back the walls to its original form, deep-toned leather to create a warm rustic charm. The bar area is very tradition, a tiled bar front in British heritage colours and vintage sports memorabilia on every wall to achieve a laid-back inviting feel.

Secret snug

The upstairs bar is more intimate, with its low-ceiling, timber beams, rugs and large bookcase. The venue also now boasts a striking private dining area, which has been designed as the ultimate space for hosting birthdays, VIP meetings and special occasions.

Discover the hidden door, and you’ll find a secret snug, which is available to hire for smaller parties of up to 20 people. Gamers can also take part in Xbox competitions, as well as pool and beer pong.

Of course, the makeover would not be complete without an impressive audiovisual set-up, and Brotherhood’s new look includes several huge screens, new lighting and a powerful sound system. Guests looking to enjoy alternative sporting commentary to what’s on the screen can request headphones from the bar.

Care has been taken to ensure Brotherhood stays true to its original vision and brand values, whilst simultaneously pushing the venue forward. The result is a confident venue that features numerous viewing areas and excellent views of all the sporting action.

The Brotherhood’s female bar owner, Seema Dhiman will also be unveiling a new food and drink menu, which is heavily inspired by iconic sporting legends and events from days gone by. The First XI cocktail collection includes proven winners, including classics such as a Negroni and a Long Island Iced Tea.

Diego’s Double

The Scout Report menu pays homage to horse racing, with original cocktail creations including Diego’s Double (a tequila coffee liqueur twist on the Espresso Martini), and the Black Ball Finish (an indulgent reimagining of an Old Fashioned with bourbon, maple syrup and black walnut bitters).

The Legends menu lives up to its name, with spirited concoctions ranging from the refreshing Bramble by Dick Bradsell to the boozy Straight up Punch (inspired by local bar legend Samantha Fish).

Meanwhile, the Corkers collection is awash with exceptional wines and bubbles and the non-contact range offers up some tasty alcohol-free alternatives. Brotherhood has also teamed up with Hedonist drinks to create a limited line of drinks to celebrate its tenth year, including a coffee tequila, a great gin, and a spiced rum.

Golden year

Guests looking for pre- and post-match nutrition can indulge in a small but perfectly formed selection of comfort food. Highlights include a classic Club Sandwich, a Fish Finger Butty, and a wide selection of their famous wings, burgers and Bar Snacks.

Competitive guests can also take up the Meaty Challenge, where they will face eating 50 original chicken wings in just 20 minutes. Winners will see their bill shredded and see their photo added to the hall of fame. Brotherhood will also continue to run competitive lunch deals and happy hour offers.

The birthday just so happens to coincide with what is shaping up to be a golden year in the world of sport, with the Euros, the Six Nations, Fury Vs Usyk and the Super Bowl all heading to Brotherhood’s screens over the coming months.

Dhiman said: “Its been a fantastic 10 years, and I am really excited about the next chapter and era, we have got fabulous plans and I believe I have created a superb environment for all Yorkshire sports fans.”

The new look bar reopens on Friday 2nd February with bookings now open.
