Eccup Reservoir
Eccup reservoir is a reservoir in Alwoodley, a suburb of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was first constructed in 1843 and later expanded. The open water area is 91 hectares, making it largest area of water in West Yorkshire.
Despite its close proximity to Leeds, Eccup reservoir is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its overwintering bird population. Eccup is also a great place to spot Red Kite from a viewing platform on the embankment. Red Kite were saved from the brink of extinction when a release site was established at Harewood House in a joint partnership between RSPB, English Nature, & Yorkshire Water.
Whilst there is no car park at Eccup, on-street parking is available on Alwoodley Lane. Please park considerately.
