The Cross Keys
The Cross Keys is a traditional British pub providing a welcoming haven from the hustle and bustle of City Centre life. We serve honest, British food using the finest, locally sourced and ethical ingredients. All of our fresh meat is reared in Yorkshire and supplied to us by established and respected sources sources such as Sykes House Farm in Wetherby; founded in the late 1960ís by Martin Smith and his father. Their first priority, like ours, is quality and consistency. Bringing out the very best in the breeds they rear and producing high quality, pork and beef. In turn, we pass on the pedigree of these raw ingredients to our customers through our talented and knowledgeable staff.
At The Cross Keys we change our menus seasonally (sometimes weekly or daily!) so that we can let the best ingredients sing together as mother nature intended. We feel that beautiful, oily mackerel, great rainbow beetroot and fiery horseradish all come into season at the same time for a reason! This way we cut down on food miles and can present the best of all our great regional produce.
The ever changing selection of four hand-pulled real ales always includes our own beer, brewed in collaboration with Kirkstall brewery and a traditional porter or stout. The bottled beers we stock originate from Belgium, Germany, Australia, the USA, and more, and the wine list boasts a selection which has something to offer everyone. Our range of spirits is modest but chosen with the utmost integrity. We have craft gins, single malts, rums and bourbons, premium spirits and liqueurs that can be sipped or mixed.
The first floor of The Cross Keys is The James Watt Room, a delightful space with full AV facilities and a private bar available to hire for corporate events, business meetings, wedding receptions and birthday parties. We also regularly host tremendously popular tasting evenings showcasing high quality spirits, wines or beers matched with food from our kitchen. We also have a large courtyard, which is perfect for relaxing in during the summer, and on Sunday evenings we host a quiz, where there is a gallon of beer to be won each and every week.
