Images of the World and the Inscription of War
Images of the World and the Inscription of War is a 1989 documentary by German filmmaker Harun Farocki. Like much of Farocki’s work, the film explores the processes of visual perception and how they affect our understanding of history and society. Centring around aerial reconnaissance photos of the Auschwitz concentration camp, the documentary examines the link between human sight, automatic image analysis, and the machinery of war.
The screening will also involve a multi-projector setup and live ‘Youtube Foraging’ session.
