Situated at the foot of its namesake moor, Ilkley is perfectly situated for a countryside wander, with stunning views no matter which direction you head. You can walk from the centre of the town straight up onto the moor and find the Cow and Calf, a legendary rock formation popular with climbers.
Once you are back in town, treat yourself to afternoon tea at the famous Bettys Café and Tea Rooms, and visit the Ilkley Toy Museum, a time-hopping collection with toys spanning from 350BC through to the present day. Finish your day with a trip to the majestic Kings Hall, known for its plays and musicals, or enjoy some Yorkshire hospitality at The Flying Duck, home to its own micro-brewery.

Location – Ilkley is easily accessible by road, rail or public transport. The town has its own train station, with regular Northern Line services from Leeds taking just 25 minutes making travel convenient and fast. Alternatively, hop on the X84 bus service which stops off in Ilkley en-route to the market town of Skipton.
Don’t Miss – Ilkley Literature Festival is one that is steeped in history. Over its 40-plus year history, the festival, which is held in venues across the town every October, has attracted everyone from famous authors and poets to Nobel Prize winners and international figures. Who knows what literary delights and speakers the next festival will host.
Fun Fact – It is believed that Charles Darwin is believed to have visited Ilkley for its famous spas. He took to the waters of White Wells, so follow in his footsteps by using its plunge pool today, which is still open all these years later.
