The Domino Club

After what started as us putting on 8 local jazz bands a month in a hidden drinking den quickly quickly crept up to us being the most active music venue in the city with up 40 acts per month and bands from as far afield as New Orleans and New York gracing the Domino’s stage.

The New Orleans Swamp Donkeys turned the Domino into a hot and sticky 1920s New Orleans speakeasy. Their frontman is the charismatic Louis Armstrong- sounding James Williams who before performing insisted that he got a trim from the barber shop/entrance to The Domino and later said that it was the best cut he’d had outside of New Orleans! The band is packed with the cream of New Orleans talent and are regulars at the legendary Preservation Hall, New York’s Blue Note Club and the iconic BB Kings.

The New Master-Sounds played their homecoming gig at the Domino Club after spending the last decade touring the United States and cementing their place as one of the very best funk bands in the world.
The Building that houses the Domino is the very place where the band cut their teeth over 20 years ago before moving to America and selling out venues all over the country. It was a proud moment to have such a great band celebrating their homecoming gig in the very building where it all started.

Legendary New York MC J-Live absolutely tore the roof off our little club when he paid a visit in 2018. The notoriously nomadic 1 man show gave the packed out house a hip-Hop lesson and a night to remember for all who were lucky enough to get a ticket.

Aside from the international acts who have performed for us we love nothing more than seeing Leeds young talent cut their teeth in our venue. Arguably we couldn’t do what we do without the amazing work that the Leeds College of Music does for the city’s music scene, as a result we’re proud to be part of one of the best Jazz scenes in the country with some of the country’s finest young talent regularly wowing the Domino crowd.
