East Street Arts
East Street Arts was established in Leeds in 1993 to facilitate the development of visual artists and to provide studios, services, resources, opportunities and support. It also hosts regular exhibitions and events across the city.
Operating in three main sites in Leeds – Patrick Studios, Union 105 (Chapeltown), and Barkston Studios in Holbeck – it also has temporary and pop-up spaces across the UK.
East Street Arts became an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation in 2012. It is a registered charity whose main office is based at Patrick Studios in Mabgate. The building was formerly a boxing club and was refurbished by Leeds architects Baumann-Lyons in 2004.
The building houses twenty-eight individual studios and six open plan spaces for new graduates. It also has a state-of-the-art creative IT and office resource, a kiln, a darkroom, and an exhibition project space for members to display their work.
