Led by acclaimed violinist Arun Ramamurthy, the trio creates an immersive musical conversation where timeless ragas are reimagined through expressive melodies, intricate improvisation and compelling rhythmic interplay.
Arun Ramamurthy Trio (ART) brings a fresh approach to age-old South Indian Carnatic music. Boundaries are blurred in this organic and seamless integration of styles as the group expands on traditional forms in explosive, improvisational flights of fancy. The trio freely explores the kindred spirit of Raga music and Jazz, resulting in a deeply invigorating and spiritual listening experience. ART’s collaborative sound is driven by the propulsive rhythm section of drummer Sameer Gupta & and electric bassist Damon Banks.
Rooted in years of artistic collaboration, each performance is unique—unfolding with spontaneity, trust and a deep sense of connection.
Inspired by their celebrated album New Moon, the trio’s music reflects on ancestry, identity and the passing of knowledge across generations. The result is a sound that is both deeply rooted in tradition and boldly contemporary.
Having performed at renowned venues including Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Bimhuis (Amsterdam) and the Northampton Jazz Festival, the Arun Ramamurthy Trio has captivated audiences worldwide with performances that are intimate, adventurous and unforgettable.
