Zineing for Language Learning
Join us and try zine-making for a fun, interesting and alternative way of practising your language skills.
Making zines is a fun and interesting way to learn and practice languages. A zine is a small handmade magazine, which can be on any topic and contain anything – pictures, poems, collages, hashtags, memories and more. In this creative session we will show you how to make a zine and how to use it to practice and record your language skills. We will discuss ideas and answers to questions on a shared topic (e.g. food / fashion / nature) and then use these ideas to create our zines. We will provide all materials, you bring the ideas and inspiration! The session will be delivered in English by Alex and Jess, but we welcome discussion and zine-making in all languages.
Jess Küçükkalyon and Alex Holloway are English Language Teaching Fellows, at the Language Centre of the University of Leeds and founders of the Rose Collective, a community ESOL organisation.
This is a Leeds City of Languages Festival event. Check the full programme at leedscityoflanguages.leeds.ac.uk
