Leeds most instagrammable spots for Autumn

12th April 2021

*Revised 6th Aug 2021

Whether you’re heading out to snag the perfect selfie, or to line up that beautifully proportioned landscape shot there are some truly stunning locations in Leeds to bag a snap of for the ‘gram.

It’s a great excuse to get out there, get some exercise and explore the city whilst you’re at it!

Leeds Corn Exchange

Call Ln, Leeds LS1 7BR

The Corn Exchange is definitely a Leeds landmark, designed by Cuthbert Broderick of Leeds Town Hall fame. Beautiful from the outside, but it’s the domed roof and colour shops inside that make it a must see. Make sure to pop into the independent shops inside too for a spot of retail therapy.

Leeds Docks

The Blvd, Leeds LS10 1PZ

Leeds’ waterfront is something of a hidden gem. Or gems, given the multitude of docks and wharfs to choose from. Get down to Granary Wharf for canalside shots, or Leeds Dock for some high rise snaps by the water.

Victoria Gate

Vicar Ln, Leeds LS2 7AU

Though it’s the most recent addition to Leeds, Victoria Gate has already become part of the skyline. Stylish and modern, it’s where you can grab one of Leeds’ most sought after pics – the rays glinting off the geometric stonework at sunset. Head to the rooftop restaurants there too!

Thornton’s Arcade

Lands Ln, Leeds LS1 6LQ

Ask a Leeds local about Thornton’s Arcade and they’ll undoubtedly mention the clock. This 200 year old timepiece is home to four cheeky characters who emerge to strike the bell every quarter. If you time your snap right, you might just catch them.

Kirkgate Market

There’s lots to love about Grade I listed Kirkgate Market, from the quirky fabric stalls to the cornucopia of butchers and fishmongers. It’s all good for the grid, especially if you’re looking for a snapshot of life in all its diversity.

Temple Newsam

Temple Newsam Rd, Leeds LS15 0AE

East Leeds is rightfully proud of Temple Newsam, a rather lovely Tudor-Jacobean mansion surrounded by manicured gardens.  Explore the splendour of the house, or grab a takeaway tea and wander the grounds for those vital ‘Sunday walk’ selfies.

First Direct Arena

Arena Way, Leeds LS2 8BY

You might not be able to catch a selfie with Elton John on his way to the stage door, or Ariana Grande as she steps off the tour bus, but now’s a good time to capture the bright lights of the First Direct arena without the queues blocking your focus.

Roundhay Park

Mansion Ln, Roundhay, Leeds LS8 2HH

Though Leeds’ biggest park has definitely found itself well used by locals eager for a little lockdown exercise, there are still plenty of undiscovered spots and quiet corners to get an outdoor photoshoot in. Bandstand selfie anyone?

Kirkstall Abbey

Abbey Rd, Kirkstall, Leeds LS5 3EH

We’re not saying you need to bring along a monk’s robe and re-enact the life of a Cistercian brother just for the likes, but it might help. If that’s a bit ambitious, you could just find a nice Medieval archway to frame your portrait.
