LNER Summer Tickets on Sale

3rd March 2023

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is placing hundreds of thousands of tickets on sale for summer 2023 allowing customers to plan and book ahead for the holiday season.

Tickets for many weekday LNER services up to and including 8 September 2023, and weekends to Saturday 26 August 2023, will be available from 2 March 2023, enabling customers to book in advance to enjoy great value getaways. Customers can sign up for LNER ticket alerts on the LNER website to be kept up to date as tickets are released.

There are dozens of destinations to discover along the LNER route which stretches 956-miles between the scenic Scottish Highlands, Northumberland coast, Yorkshire, Newark, Lincoln, Peterborough and London.

David Horne, Managing Director at LNER, said: “We know how much those memorable breaks mean to our customers, whether it is spending time with family or friends, or a special day trip or short break. We also know how important it is for people to be able to plan ahead, so placing our summer tickets on sale now means customers can do just that. “LNER’s new ‘Deal Finder’ on the LNER app provides both inspiration and best value fares to meet budgets. There’s an extra bonus for members of LNER’s loyalty scheme, LNER Perks until mid-April. As well as receiving £5 credit for signing up, members can enjoy 10 per cent credit on all future ticket purchases between now and 16 April 2023 – five times more than usual.”

Data from LNER shows that more than six million journeys were made between the beginning of June and end of August 2022, with trips between Edinburgh and London King’s Cross proving most popular last summer. Journeys between Leeds and King’s Cross were almost as popular, with Newcastle, York and Peterborough also on the list. Berwick-upon-Tweed, Alnmouth, Harrogate and Lincoln are among the hidden gems along the LNER route.

The latest data published by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) shows that LNER has continued to welcome more customers onboard than compared with pre pandemic times, with passenger journeys now at 105 per cent when compared with the same period for 2019. LNER secured a lead over the share of the air market from June 2021 with 59.7 per cent for journeys between Edinburgh and London as people increasingly look to travel in a more sustainable way.

LNER is sharing savvy travel tips for customers, with the best value fares available when booked direct on the LNER website or app. Customers can save on average 51 per cent by purchasing LNER Advance tickets and railcards can also see savings of up to a third. There is no booking fee and customers can receive live journey alerts.

Customers are encouraged to make a seat reservation as services are expected to be popular. While onboard, they can enjoy a delicious range of locally source food and drinks with a complimentary at-seat service in First Class or purchase a wide range of refreshments that can be delivered directly to them, thanks to LNER’s Let’s Eat At Your Seat Service in Standard.
