The first ball of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will be bowled on 12 June, and today, as one of the host venues, Headingley marked the milestone by transforming its iconic scoreboard into a huge 100-day countdown.

The moment was part of a wave of scoreboard transformations across the country and around the world, signalling the start of the final run-up to one of the biggest sporting events of the year. Cricket fans around the world are gearing up for an electrifying summer of women’s cricket, with excitement building ahead of the tournament coming to Leeds.

Yorkshire and Netherlands star Sterre Kalis was part of the celebrations, ahead of her national side’s first appearance in an ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She was joined by fellow Yorkshire star Rachel Slater, whose Scottish side will take on hosts England in one of Headingley’s marquee fixtures this summer.

Countdown scoreboards also appeared simultaneously at cricket grounds across host cities in the UK including Old Trafford Cricket Ground (Manchester) Headingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Hampshire Bowl (Southampton), The Oval (London), and Lord’s (London). Iconic global cricket grounds such as Sydney Cricket Ground (Australia), Eden Gardens (India) and Gaddafi Stadium (Pakistan) also followed suit transforming their scoreboards with the digital design.

Netherlands International and Yorkshire player Sterre Kalis said: “With just 100 days to go to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the whole team are so excited to get going.
