The legendary Victoria & Commercial in Leeds city centre has announced details of its much anticipated re-opening, with new operators Kirkstall Brewery and Whitelock’s confirming doors will re-open to the people of Leeds at 12noon on Friday 5th December.
Built in 1865, the Grade II listed building features one of Leeds’ most impressive pub interiors and has been lovingly brought back to life by the teams behind Kirkstall Brewery, Whitelock’s and White Cloth Hall. Following painstaking refurbishment undertaken to restore the Victorian splendour of the building, which has been closed since March 2020, the pub will once again serve the people of Leeds under the stewardship of the teams behind some of Leeds’ most loved hospitality venues.
The first 100 visitors to The Victoria on each of Friday 5th and Saturday 6th December will be welcomed with a complimentary pint of Kirkstall or Five Points Brewery beer, and, to kick off the season, The Victoria will host free festive entertainment across its opening weekend.
Starting with a choir performing Christmas carols and classics throughout the evening of Friday 5th, the opening weekend celebrations continue with a traditional Christmas singalong hosted by the famed Cardi Choir on Saturday 6th before a festive Jazz Session on the 7th with cozy jazz trio in tribute to The Victoria’s once renowned regular Jazz Sessions
The pub’s famous interior has been sympathetically restored after years of neglect, and a brand new kitchen, toilets and beer cellar installed. The bar will feature a broad selection of cask and keg beers from Kirkstall and Five Points, a wide range of guest breweries, plus an extensive wine, spirits and cocktail menu.
The newly installed kitchen at The Victoria will be headed up by former Whitelock’s Head Chef Nick Robertson, and food will be served daily throughout the pub, showcasing local and seasonal ingredients and food suppliers.
The bar menu will feature high quality pub classics, bar snacks and sandwiches, while the historic Albert’s Room is being re-opened as a stunning dining room, with a longer menu of seasonal British cuisine and a premium grilled meats menu. Tables for food can be booked in advance, while the main bar and Bridget’s Bar will be kept available for walk-ins.
The all-new Sunday roast menu will feature a mouth-watering selection including beef rump cap, pork tomahawk, lamb gigot steak and salt-baked celeriac pithivier options. Bookings will be available from Monday 8th December on the Victoria’s website or in person.
The Victoria will be open:
Mon – Weds: 11AM – 11PM
Thurs – Sat: 11AM – 12AM
Sunday: 12PM – 10.30PM
