THE GLEE CLUB ENJOYS SELL-OUT FIRST WEEKEND IN LEEDS

The Leeds launch of independent comedy venue The Glee made a big impression on its opening weekend with hundreds of comedy lovers attending the venue’s debut sell-out shows.
The award-winning nightspot, which opened the doors to its new Great George Street venue on Friday March 28, hosted a weekend of incredible acts to officially launch in Leeds and it certainly got the city laughing!
The Glee founder Mark Tughan said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend to mark our Leeds launch. We’ve had such a warm welcome to the city, and we hope everyone who managed to get a ticket for our opening shows had a fantastic time.
“The feedback from guests on the venue, the service and of course the non-stop laughs, has been superb and we’re so excited to be here and to bring more great quality entertainment to our stage. Tickets for shows have been flying out and we’ve got lots more amazing talent lined up for the venue, which we’re looking forward to revealing soon.”
Among the opening weekend performers were BAFTA award winning comedian, Tom Davis; the quick witted and multi-award winning, Brennan Reece; Irish comedian and writer Dylan Moran; stand-up comedian and host of Fin vs The Internet, Fin Taylor; and English actress, comedian and presenter Michelle De Swarte.
The Glee is the leading operator of comedy venues in the UK and is renowned for quality live comedy alongside live music, cabaret, and special events.
Some of the biggest names in comedy and entertainment have regularly graced its stages including Peter Kay, Michael McIntyre, Jo Brand, Lee Evans, Sarah Millican and Jack Whitehall.
The Leeds venue hosts a weekly programme of side-splitting comedy and entertainment, with a regular Friday and Saturday night comedy show, alongside big-name comedians, bands and events.
Upcoming shows include Scottish comedian and writer, Frankie Boyle on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st May and comedian, writer and actor, Rhys James on Friday 27th June and Saturday 28th June.
There is also an extensive food and drink offer to tuck into in between all the laughs, including bar classics, cocktail pitchers, beer buckets and a selection of wines.
Weekly food deals, a pre-order service and custom-made packages will also be available to offer customers a bespoke comedy night out experience that ticks all the boxes!
