The Wardrobe

The Wardrobe, now a Leeds institution, has been at the vanguard of the city’s live music scene for well over a decade. A bar, kitchen, venue, and arts space located in the heart of the cultural quarter in Leeds city centre.

Opening its doors in 1999, The Wardrobe is now one of the cityís longest-established independent venues, and has played host to a remarkable array of prestigious local and international acts, and continues to host over 250 live shows every year across two stages. Previous acts include: Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae, Beverly Knight, Tony Allen, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Julian Marley, The New JBs, Breakestra, Acoustic Ladyland, Polar Bear, The Bad Plus, Robert Glasper, Soweto Kinch, Jazzanova, Terri Callier, Arrested Development, Alice Russell, Autechre, Roy Ayers, Jerry Bergonzi, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Spearhead, Brian Auger, Gwen McCrae, Kate Rusby Linton Kwesi Johnson, The Mighty Diamonds, Bernard Purdy, Fertile Ground, Sly & Robbie, Haggis Horns, Dwele, Youngblood Brass Band and Theo Parrish.

With decor reminiscent of 1950s New York industrialism, the spacious street-level cafÈ bar and restaurant offers a unique combination of delicious food and an extensive drinks menu, accompanied by live music and retro metropolitan style. The basement club, whilst echoing the theme of the floor above it, offers something entirely different – a dark and intimate space, it evokes the feel of a smoky New York jazz club, and has hosted some of the most exciting and iconic international acts the city has ever seen.

Family-owned and genuinely invested in local music, business and arts communities, The Wardrobe is proud of its heritage, identity and patrons. Expect a relaxed atmosphere, delicious, locally-sourced and unpretentious food, an extensive selection of fine wines, ales, world beers and cocktails, and an almost nightly showcase of some of the most entertaining live jazz, funk and soul acts in the North.

Cocktail master classes available, view the website for more details.
