Kirkstall
With its name deriving from the old Norse phrase “site of the church”, Kirkstall is characterised by its Abbey, founded in 1152 by cisterian monks. While the formidable abbey undeniably remains the main attraction, Kirkstall – only 2 miles from the city centre – has a lot else going for it these days.
