Christmas in Millennium Square

14th November 2021

This Christmas is set to be one to remember as the city welcomes a whole host of new and exciting festive attractions and activities to bring in the winter season.

Millennium Square is no exception. This year, you can expect even more fun for all the family as the popular Ice Cube returns with a special festive edition and will be accompanied by festive street food and drink, a giant Igloo Bar and winter-themed rides and attractions. You’re not going to want to miss it!

Ice Skating

For the very first time, the outdoor ice rink will take centre stage on Millennium Square for the run up to Christmas. Get those skates on and kickstart the festive season with a magical outdoor skating experience in the heart of Leeds city centre.

Visit the city’s coolest attraction between Friday 26 November and Friday 24 December to enjoy a special day of seasonal family fun. The 400 sqm real ice rink features a transparent marquee-styled roof, ideal for protecting you from the wind and rain of a UK winter.

The popular Penguin Club will be running every weekend morning, as well as a dedicated accessible session every Thursday morning. For those wanting to brush up their skills, one-to-one skating lessons with a qualified coach will be available every Saturday and Sunday morning.

Book your tickets online here.

Street Food & Drink

Ready to indulge? After skating, head to the outdoor covered seating areas to relax and refuel with a selection of local and international street food and drink served from Alpine inspired chalet style huts.

Christmas food favourites include: German bratwurst sausages, glühwein and bier, Yorkshire pudding wraps, Canadian style poutine, churros, waffles, coffee and hot chocolates. There really is something for everyone.

Spirit of Christmas Igloo Bar

Whether you’re looking for somewhere cosy to relax after a busy day of Christmas shopping or are out to celebrate the season with friends, the brand new Spirit of Christmas Igloo Bar is the place to be.

Immerse yourself in the giant inflatable igloo structure boasting a winter garden-themed interior, staff in ice-themed costumes, live music and entertainment, as well as a large festive drinks menu.

Open daily from 12pm to 9.30pm and free to enter subject to capacity on a first-come first-served basis. A limited number of tables will also be available to book in advance – for reservation enquiries, please email [email protected].

Family Funfair

The Ice Cube is not just about skating – end your day on a high with the fantastic selection of family-friendly rides and attractions. The ‘North Pole’ Funhouse will join the iconic 30m high Starflyer and children’s winter themed rides and games to create all the fun of the fair.
