Afrikan Market Leeds
The Afrikan Market Leeds is a vibrant, community-led cultural market delivered by Unity Does MAATer CIC in Chapeltown, Leeds, the cultural heart and starting point of the world-famous Leeds West Indian Carnival.
Established in November 2021, the market runs six times a year (March, April, June, July, November and December) and has become a trusted platform celebrating African and Caribbean heritage through culture, creativity and enterprise.
The market embodies Unity Does MAATer CIC’s vision of “Restoring the Village”, rooted in the African principle that communities share responsibility for uplifting both younger and elder generations.
It provides:
* A safe and inclusive cultural space
