A magical musical retelling of Charles Dickens’ timeless festive tale…
In this captivating production imagined especially for the Howard Assembly Room, carol singers and a narrator join forces to tell the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge. A miserly man of business who cares little for the season, Scrooge finds his life changed forever one icy Christmas Eve following a series of eerie nighttime visitations.
Acclaimed playwright David Simpatico’s adaptation combines Dickens’ original text with composer Will Todd’s exquisite new arrangements of traditional Victorian carols. Sung by members of the Chorus of Opera North and accompanied by a live instrumental ensemble, director PJ Harris’s brand-new staging is specially created for the intimate splendour of a Victorian hall.
