Our Memories of Leeds Banner
Our Memories of Leeds textile banner was made in response to the exhibition Don’t Let’s Ask for the Moon, we have the stars as part of the Community Program at Leeds Art Gallery.
Artist Cáit McEniff led a series of workshops with Being You Leeds members exploring the work of John Atkinson Grimshaw and the stories he told of Leeds through the people and places in his paintings. Sharing her own practice Cáit guided the group through collage and textile techniques to create a collaborative banner, sharing the groups stories through images of objects, places and people that connected with Leeds and their own personal experiences and memories of the city.
Cáit McEniff is an Illustrator and textile artist from Warrington, based in Leeds. To find out more about their practice visit www.caitmceniff.co.uk or instagram.com/caitmceniff
