Leeds has a reputation for some of the best shopping in the UK, with a thriving independent scene that draws inspiration from across Yorkshire and the world. With all of Yorkshire on its doorstep, Leeds’ has access to some of the world’s finest artisan produce and fresh natural ingredients, as well as a wealth of unique gifts, homeware and clothing created by artists and craftspeople.

Here are some shops that celebrate all things Yorkshire!

The Yorkshire Soap Company

A decadent oasis of spa and bath items, The Yorkshire Soap Company is a bespoke gifting shop, as well as the perfect spot to pamper yourself! Inspired by ‘affordable luxury’, everyone can indulge in a range of soaps, oils and other toiletries with irresistible scents and perfected formulas. Known for their pink floral interior, a trip to the Yorkshire Soap company is a magical shopping experience.

Released Records

Art Gallery Shop

Leeds Art Gallery shop offers a unique selection of locally crafted jewellery, cards, homeware and so much more. Their new collection named ‘All Together Leeds’ features an exclusive design by Henry Makin and You and Me Media which is inspired by the unique ‘pulse’ of our city. Post-lockdown reflection induced this thought-provoking message centred around the beautiful connection the people of Leeds have with each other and with the vibrant city. Blurring home and hospitality, The Collective Inc tells the stories of local craftsmen from their design to their coffee… They showcase truly bespoke homeware creations, each being one of a kind. Whilst you are there, why not indulge in their delicious, locally sourced menu. The Collective Inc encompasses what it means to celebrate Yorkshire, from sourcing local produce and working with local craftsman.

Chilli-Shop

Tucked away in the heart of Leeds you’ll find one of the UK’s most iconic chilli shops, selling everything from chilli plants, gag gifts and some of the hottest chilli sauces known to man. It’s one of the only places where you can find nearly all the sauces seen on the hit YouTube show Hot Ones including the infamous Da Bomb.A relative newcomer to the city, Chilli-shop with locals and visitors alike. It’s featured on This Morning, had a visit by Big Zuu (where you can find his BBQ sauce stocked) plus it is fully supported by the Hot Ones show itself! So if you’re a fan of spice this is a must-visit.

An inspiring way for fans to connect with their club, Leeds United have a presence in shops across Leeds. The official Leeds United FC store sells replica kits, retro tees and other exclusive sports equipment, so there’s plenty to indulge in for football fans. Not a football fan yourself? The store’s incredible gifting range is a no brainer for treating loved ones to something they will love!

The Cheesy Living Co.

Feeling cheesy? The Cheesy Living Co. has got you covered. Their range of British sourced cheese & charcuterie has some serious passion behind it. Starting up over lockdown they’ve gone from strength to strength, starting online, then onto become a firm favourite based at the iconic Leeds Corn Exchange. The team at Cheesy Living Co. pride themselves on working with small, independent British farms & businesses. Not only does this add to the charm of the store, but the flavours are immaculate.

 

Feeling like celebrating Yorkshire day here? Check out their ‘Yorkshire box’ containing three Yorkshire cheeses, Reet Yorkshire chutney, Yorkshire crisps and a Yorkshire pork pie. At the very least, don’t miss out on trying one of their Yorkshire Cheese’s such as the Leeds Blue, the Swaledale Smoked or the Yorkshire Pecorino Fiore. Not only does this add to the charm of the store, but the flavours are immaculate.

Kirkgate Market is located in the heart of our city but holds a Europe-wide recognition as one of the largest indoor markets. Featuring fresh food, hand-made clothing, locally grown flowers, plants and so much more! Bursting with vibrant cultures, Kirkgate market has been loved since 1857 and continues to thrive. Visitors should keep an eye out for its farmer’s market on Briggate every first and third Sunday of the month. The food scene in Kirkgate Market is ever-growing and is becoming famous for their ‘Market Kitchen’ featuring foods from across the world. Some of the thriving street food stalls include ‘Jenny’s Jerk Chicken’ as-well as ‘Sweet Saeeda’. This is a must-see for your visit!
